Nature journaling has long been recognised as a restorative, well-being practice.
Join Emma Lewellyn, the practicing Horticultural Therapist at South Australia’s Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium for an intimate and calming workshop that explores the gentle art of contemplation, observation and recording in natural spaces.
Emma starts the workshop with a talk that delves into the purpose of writing as a mindful practice, the context of environment and climate, and the ways that observations and mindfulness can be recorded.
A meditative walk around the peaceful, beautiful garden will follow for participants to look, touch, smell and collect natural and botanical treasures before morning or afternoon tea. The second half of the workshop focuses on the applied and personal practice of nature journaling.
Journal, paint set and pen are included in the cost of the workshop.
A qualified horticulturalist with additional allied health and therapy qualifications, Emma focuses on delivering a unique wellness therapy that combines well-being and positive mental health with horticultural practices and principles.
She develops and delivers horticultural therapy programs and workshops for aged communities, migrant communities and vulnerable and at-risk cohorts.
