The Cedars

Cedars’ Secret Garden High Tea Tour

A relaxing tour through the artist’s garden, followed by a delicious high tea in a secret nook of the garden.

Immerse yourself in nature and history at The Cedars by joining curator and garden expert, Allan Campbell, for a meandering tour through the beautiful Cedars’ Artist’s Garden, followed by a sumptuous high tea hidden amongst the foliage.

The Artist’s Garden is the only original, artist-planted garden in Australia which has been providing joy and beauty to all who visit for over a century. Hans Heysen was a passionate gardener and planned the garden in detail, laying out most of the beds, building stonework paths, walls, steps and borders of quartz and sandstone.

The most significant trees in the Artist’s Garden are the enormous Himalayan cedar trees planted in the 1840s and which give the property its name. Planted with chiefly exotic species, the garden sits beautifully with the backdrop of the magnificent gums and native flora of the wider property.

Over 200 original roses planted by the Heysens, and featuring in many of Hans and Noras’ still life works, grow amongst the stunning array of lilacs, iris, old fashioned perennials, camellias, hydrangeas, and more.

Join us for this very special and rare event under the trees, steeped in history, art and nature.
